Taxpayers could foot the bill for Con Ed project
The Con Edison powerline project running through Riverdale is almost completed, but residents say only half the job is done.
According to Community Board 8's Tony Perez Cassino, the Public Service Commission and Con Edison only worked out a deal to repave lanes of 246th Street that the electrical company works in.
"Con Edison should've been required to do the whole roadway ? curb to curb," Cassino says.
A Community Board 8 representative told News 12 The Bronx the city will likely have to fix the roads, which could mean taxpayers would end up footing the bill. Con Edison will only say it's working as fast as possible to finish the project. The company did not comment on repaving the roads.
