MTA officials say the next bus on the chopping block to help close the $1.2 billion budget deficit may be the 34 line, which connects Woodlawn residents to Norwood and Bedford Park.

According to MTA officials, the 34 bus ranks at the bottom in passenger use. Residents in the area disagree, though, and insist the bus is the only form of transportation for elderly and disabled neighbors who live in the very center of Woodlawn.

?They're taking a vital link from our neighborhood and making it into a two-fare zone and also making it very inconvenient for the elderly,? Ken Parr, a community board member, says.

MTA officials will hold a public forum in the Bronx about service cuts in February. Residents can attend to voice their opinions and concerns about their neighborhoods.
