MLK legacy honored by New Yorkers

Bronx residents honored the legacy of civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. at events throughout the city, including one in Brooklyn.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music hosted its 23rd annual MLK celebration, which is the largest one in the city. A free screening of the documentary, "Little Rock Central: 50 Years Later," was shown at the tribute to King.

At an event in Washington, President-elect Barack Obama spoke of thousands of volunteer organizations and projects that worked this holiday in memory of King. Obama pushed for widespread commitments to public service Monday.
