BX tenants left without heat, hot water for weeks
Tenants inside a Bronx building are asking for help after they say they have been living like animals inside their apartment.
Tenants say on Sunday a pipe burst inside their 320 East 159 St. apartment building, causing water to leak from the ceiling, damaging much of the furniture and electronics inside their homes. Some say they have buckets of water laying on mattresses and holes in the walls and ceilings.
In addition, residents say they have been living without heat and hot water, forcing them to keep their oven doors open in order to feel warm.
After numerous attempts to contact their landlord, residents have not received a response and say they have nowhere to turn.
?I don?t know what I am going to do. I am either going to move back into grandma?s with my kids or go to a shelter because I don?t have another place to go to or any other options,? says tenant Josephina Ortiz.
News 12 The Bronx tried numerous times to contact the owners of the building, Knickerbocker Management, but they have not yet returned the phone calls.
