Brush fire breaks out near Orchard Beach

Firefighters battled a brush fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon in a wooded area near Orchard Beach.
According to a fire chief, firefighters had trouble getting access to the source of the fire, which ignited shortly after 1:30 p.m. in an area where there are no roadways or houses.
?It good that it?s not near homes, it?s a remote area,? said Fire Chief Joesph Saccente. ?But the problem is there is no water source.?
Firefighters used an NYPD helicopter in attempt to douse the flames, which could be seen behind a screen of thick smoke. Though water did eventually reach the fire source through a long series of attached hoses, the fire almost contained itself in the weeds and brush.
