2 Bronx entrepreneurs accused of labor violations
New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's office announced Thursday that criminal charges have been filed against two Bronx businessmen, who are accused of violating labor laws.
Walter Galiano, the owner of Arthur Avenue Bakery, has allegedly withheld more than $300,000 in wages from his 25 employees and failed to pay into the state's unemployment insurance fund. Galiano is also accused of not filing corporate and personal taxes and falsifying documents to cover his alleged scheme.
Alex Moreno, the the owner of two Getty gas stations on Edward L. Grant Highway and Jerome Avenue, is accused of withholding $250,000 from his workers and failing to pay into the state's unemployment system.
Both men are facing more than 40 counts of misdemeanor and felony charges.
