Some parents in Riverdale are calling for the removal of the principal of P.S. 24 after allegations of bizarre religious activity.

The Department of Education says there is an active investigation into allegations that Principal Philip Scharper held Buddhist prayer meetings in his office. Scharper also allegedly tried to recruit school staff members to be part of a prayer circle.

Parents are now demanding answers. One parent feels Scharper should address the issue.

"A real leader would say it's not true," says Cliff Stanton, the father of a P.S. 24 second-grader.

Scharper would not comment on the situation. The DOE only said there is an investigation, but couldn't comment further.
