BX school: Yankees didn't deliver new park
Students at a Bronx high school say they have yet to see the new baseball field they were promised when the New York Yankees constructed a new stadium in the park the students used.
The All Hallows High School baseball team has been without a home field for more than three years because of the construction of the new Yankee Stadium. The team formerly used the field at Macombs Park to practice and play before the Yankees took over the space. Now, the students are forced to practice in the school cafeteria.
Sean Sullivan, the school principal, and Eddie Guttierez, the head coach, say the school was promised a new field, but the Yankees have yet to deliver. According to Sullivan, the school was forced to purchase secondary school buses to transport the baseball players to and from a practice field elsewhere in the Bronx.
