Police: Arthur Avenue businessman robbed
Police say the owner of a popular Arthur Avenue restaurant was followed home by robbers and forced to hand over the contents of his personal safe.
Authorities say Charlie DiPaolo was confronted at his home in Hastings, Westchester County by the robbers and pushed, along with his wife, inside their home. DiPaolo told police he was pistol-whipped and forced to open his family's safe. DiPaolo's 17-year-old son, who was upstairs at the time of the robbery, called 911 from his cell phone.
Police say DiPaolo, who owns Dominick's Bar and Restaurant, believes he was targeted because he is a known businessman in the area. Officers arrested Francisco Cordero, of Yonkers, at DiPaolo's home but say they are still searching for at least three more suspects.
