Tenants: Broken elevators pose danger
Tenants of 3550 Bivona St. say their building's elevators have been broken for months, causing many elderly people to climb numerous flights of stairs to get home.
Tenants add that climbing the stairs is not only an inconvenience and a health risk, but it's also dangerous.
"We have to go in the stairway and you never know who's hiding in the stairway," says Hassan Diaz, who lives on the 10th floor of the building.
Efforts by News 12 The Bronx to reach the New York City Housing Authority have so far been unsuccessful. According to the agency's Web site, the elevators at 3550 Bivona St. have been inspected and there are no outstanding violations.
