7 kids hurt in Pelham Bay carnival accident

(AP) - Authorities say a children's roller coaster derailed at a Pelham Bay carnival, leaving seven children with minor injuries.

Firefighters say the ride ran off its tracks at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Theresa Festival near Pelham Bay Park. Police say the roller coaster stood no more than three to four feet off the ground.

The seven children were taken Jacobi Medical Center and treated for bumps and scratches. They have all been released.
