Black Sunday juror claims she was fair

A woman who has been accused of misconduct while serving on the jury of the Black Sunday trial told News 12 The Bronx she was a fair juror.

Defense attorneys in the case claim Karen Krell contacted one of the surviving firefighters via the social networking Web site Facebook. Krell says she looked for Brendan Cawley on Facebook, but never contacted him during the trial.

Cawley testified that illegal partitions allegedly inside an East 178th Street apartment led to the deaths of Lt. Curtis Meyran and firefighter John Bellew.

The former landlord and management company accused in the deaths were found guilty of criminally negligent homicide.
