NYPD numbers increase for Ramadan safety

NYPD detectives met with mosque leaders Friday to prepare for special security details as Bronx Muslims gear up for the holy Islamic month of Ramadan.
Beginning Saturday, there will be extra police officers and patrol cars protecting the Parkchester Jame Masjid Mosque and its members. NYPD Detective Ahmed Nasser says there will be, ?more police presence so everyone can observe Ramadan peacefully and without worry.?
Nasser went over the new security details with the president of the mosque, who says there have been five hate crimes in the neighborhood over the past month.
