Forced vaccine doesn't sit well with workers
Some health care professionals at Montefiore Medical Center are speaking out against the newest vaccination requirement against seasonal and the 2009 H1N1 flu.
Christopher Dewese, a Montefiore lab assistant for 10 years, says that he will not get the shot, even if it costs him his job.
"I don't see why I should be forced to take a shot for an illness I've never gotten," Dewese says.
A Montefiore letter to employees explains that the center is following new state Health Department requirements that say all health care professionals need to get the shot before Nov. 30.
With the hospital already beginning vaccinations, Dewese and other professionals against the shot requirement have started a petition to change the rule.
