NYPD tightens security for Yom Kippur

The NYPD heightened security around Jewish temples Monday for Yom Kippur.
The Riverdale Jewish Center and the Riverdale Temple at 4545 Independence Ave. are being closely monitored due to an alleged terror plot that targeted them last May. Four men were arrested in the alleged plot.
Terror experts say terrorists purposely target religious holidays because their actions would result in a greater impact.
In May, Gov. David Paterson allotted $25,000 in federal funds to strengthen security efforts for the Riverdale Jewish Center and the Riverdale Temple.
