Suspect accused in firefighter's death appears in court
The man accused of setting the Yonkers fire that killed firefighter Patrick Joyce appeared in city court Wednesday.
Police say 33-year-old Rafael Roldan admitted that he caused the deadly fire at a home on Waverly Street.
Roldan was arraigned Monday and charged with second-degree murder, second-degree arson and two counts of first-degree burglary. He was not able to enter a plea at that time because he did not have an attorney. He has since been assigned Manhattan lawyer Scott Tulman for legal representation.
Prosecutors want the case presented to a grand jury and moved to a higher court in White Plains. They will present their argument to have the trial moved Oct. 23.
