Bronx toddler hurt in stairway collapse

A 4-year-old boy was hurt Tuesday when a stairway collapsed in a building on East 187th Street for the second time in a month.
According to Fire Chief Thomas Dunn, the incident happened at around 2:30 p.m. when two marble steps leading to the second floor at 689 East 187th St. suddenly collapsed, injuring a toddler.
The boy was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital to be treated for a minor cut to the head. Residents who live on floors above the collapsed staircase had to be evacuated by firefighters.
In October, a stair landing collapsed between the third and fourth floors in the same building.
