Family mourns 28-year-old killed in hit-and-run

Family members and neighbors mourned the death of a 28-year-old Bronx woman, who was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver early Sunday morning.

Police say a black SUV hit Ivette Diaz while she was crossing the Grand Concourse near 165th Street. Diaz had just parked her car after being the designated driver at her sister's birthday party before she was hit.

Diaz had seven siblings and her mother, Ruth Santos, says she was successful and hardworking.

Diaz's family members say they are trying to raise enough money to give their daughter, sister and friend a proper funeral.
