Authorities: Cable missing from crash scene

Investigators say the spool of cable that allegedly caused a Bronx woman to swerve and crash her car Friday on the Bruckner Expressway disappeared from the scene after the accident.

Suejas Estrada, 30, was killed in the accident after she apparently swerved to avoid something in the road, hit a U.S. Postal Service vehicle and was ejected from her SUV. A source says the spool of cable was removed from the scene, which could be detrimental to the investigation.

Former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw was involved in the crash and told reporters he also saw the cable in the road. Con Edison representatives say a private investigation ruled out suspicions the cable was theirs.
