City Council overrides Bloomberg's armory veto

The City Council voted against the plan to develop the Kingsbridge Armory Monday night after Mayor Michael Bloomberg vetoed the council's Dec. 14 decision.

Bloomberg used his one chance to veto the decision. The Land Use Committee met Monday morning and upheld its decision to override Bloomberg's veto before the City Council also overrode the veto.

Residents and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. criticized the plan after a benefits agreement that would have provided living wages for armory shop workers was denied. Bloomberg says the plan would have brought thousands of jobs to the Bronx.
