Police: Man shot at minivan before he was fatally struck on University Avenue in Morris Heights

An alleged romantic rivalry has left one man dead after being struck by a minivan in Morris Heights.

The incident happened at around 3:30 a.m. on University Avenue at 176th Street, outside the C Town Supermarket.

Authorities say a man saw his former girlfriend in a minivan with another man and started to shoot a gun.

Police say the driver took off, but later found the gunman and ran him down.

First responders say the alleged shooter was found lying on the street with severe head trauma. He was rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police took the minivan driver into custody and recovered a gun at the scene.

The woman believed to be at the center of the love triangle was in the passenger seat at the time of the accident, but she is currently not facing any charges.
