Students, officers hurt in BX school fight

A food fight at Evander Childs High School on Gun Hill Road spun out of control injuring several students and school safety officers Wednesday.

The fight occurred in the fourth-floor cafeteria shortly after the fifth-period bell rang, students said. The scene quickly turned into chaos as school safety officers were not able to immediately take control of the situation.

The Department of Education confirmed two school safety officers and one student received treatment for injuries at Montefiore Medical Center.

Three students were charged with assault and four others were charged with disorderly conduct. The school will resume its normal schedule Thursday.
