Missing elderly woman found dead on fire escape

A Bronx family is in mourning after a 79-year-old grandmother was found dead Sunday morning.

Police say Lucia Rodriguez's body was found on a fire escape behind a Sheridan Avenue apartment complex. Rodriguez, who suffered from Alzheimer's, had gone missing on Friday and police and family members searched the place where she was eventually found, among other areas around the building on Saturday.

Rodriguez's family has requested an autopsy be performed to determine how she died. Police say Rodriguez's death remains under investigation.
