MTA cuts include eliminating Bx18 on weekends

The Metropolitan Transit Authority plans to cut weekend and off-peak service for nearly every bus line in the Bronx and commuters are voicing concerns.

The plan involves restructuring several bus lines including the Bx26, Bx28 and Bx30. It also plans to completely eliminate the Bx18 line on the weekends.

The MTA says the cuts in service are necessary to fill its budget gap. Eliminating Bx18 on weekends would save the organization $1.2 million per year.

Approximately 1,100 people use the Bx18 during the weekends.
