Promised jobs never came to hopeful residents
Out-of-work Bronx residents who thought they would be getting jobs in the demolition of the old Yankee Stadium say the positions never existed.
Several men, like Anthony Andino, were promised jobs by a Goodwill job placement agent when they filled out applications that came in the mail.
The agent asked them to get an identification picture taken for $10 but allegedly pocketed the money after promising non-union jobs. Many plan to take their complaint to the Bronx borough president.
Goodwill said the agent has since left the company, and it is working with the affected residents during their job search.
