Mold concerns force students from trailers
Parents of students at a Parkchester elementary school are elated after mold concerns forced the Department of Education to move students out of trailers.
Community leaders joined parents for weeks outside of P.S. 106 to protest the initial decision to place the students in the trailers, which the DOE says was done for space concerns. Now, the students have been moved back after DOE officials confirmed the presence of mold in the trailers.
The DOE says the move to put students back in the main building is a permanent one despite limited space. Parents and organizers say they now want the DOE to present them with a project that will alleviate overcrowding in the main building.
