Bronx trains get on the clock

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority instituted public address information systems throughout the borough Tuesday to let riders know when the next train will arrive. However, riders are unsure about the new technology.

The screens show when the next two trains will arrive as well as their destinations. Some riders said they found the arrival message loud but others feel they are a necessity to their commute.

The system also keeps riders informed of subway delays or changes. The MTA plans to put the technology in 152 numbered lines throughout the city by 2011.
