Belmont development plan draws ire

A controversial construction project on East Fordham Road was at the center of a hearing Wednesday night.

The owner of Medalliance Medical Health Services has proposed expanding his presence in the area and has already received the go-ahead to add three floors to his clinic. At the hearing, he detailed a plan that would add 10 additional floors with 58 residential units at a later date.

Opponents say the zoning change needed to complete the project would allow for a building that's out of character with the Belmont area.

The plan was not voted on Wednesday. The community board will meet again next week to conduct a vote.
