1 injured in 2-alarm Pelham blaze

Fire officials say a two-alarm blaze that broke out at a Pelham Parkway home Sunday sent one woman to the hospital.

Firefighters battled the flames on the fourth floor of 2156 Cruger Ave. for more than 45 minutes. Officials say the fire spread to the fifth floor and the area between the top floor ceiling and the roof before it was extinguished.

According to Deputy Chief Jim Mulrenan, the building had some outstanding violations on fire escapes.

One woman was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, but her condition is unknown.
