Fire ravages 2 homes on Decatur Ave.

Fire officials are investigating a blaze that destroyed two homes in Norwood Friday evening.

The fire ignited at 3134 Decatur Ave. shortly after 5 p.m. Firefighters say the flames were so strong the second floor of one of the homes collapsed. No one was inside either home at the time of the fire.

"Had this been during the nighttime with people sleeping, it would've been a tragedy," says Fire Chief Kevin Scanlon.

Scanlon adds that the blaze was so massive it took firefighters more than an hour to put it out.
