Memory doesn't serve BX team at competition

A group of Bronx students hoped to have a tournament to remember recently at the annual USA Memory Championship.

The students, who attend Samuel Gompers High School, say the memory tricks they've learned help them achieve success not only in competitions, but in academics as well.

History teacher Raemon Matthews implemented the memory techniques in his classroom, which he thinks helps students retain information and encourage collaborative skills.

The Samuel Gompers High School team didn't win the tournament, but say they enjoyed the experience.
