Community holds vigil for Bronx cyclist

Members of the Bronx community gathered Thursday to remember a 57-year-old cyclist killed by an MTA bus.

Friends and colleagues held a vigil for Norwood resident Megan Charlop-Powers, who worked as a director for the Montefiore School Health Program.

Charlop-Powers was killed Wednesday when she was hit by a bus filled with passengers while biking down Crotona Avenue. According to investigators, a man in a parked car opened his door, knocking her off her bicycle and into the street.

Officials say charges will not be filed against the bus driver or the man who opened the car door.
