Bronx activist remembered after bus death

Many Bronx residents are remembering a community activist who was struck and killed by a city bus Wednesday.

Megan Charlop-Powers, 57, often volunteered at local schools. She was bicycling to a school the morning she died. The Norwood resident worked as a director for the Montefiore School Health Program.

According to investigators, a man in a parked car opened his door and she swerved to avoid the car but went straight into the path of the oncoming bus. No charges are being filed.
