Officials: Beware of census scams

Federal officials are warning Bronx residents about possible census scams popping up in the borough.

Officials say scammers use false documents to get sensitive and private information.

The Census Bureau says legitimate forms will not ask for social security numbers, money or personal information such as pin codes, passwords or bank account information. Also, the Census Bureau says it will not contact anyone on the Internet.

Residents who think they may have a false census form are urged to call their local census office.
