BX tenants fuming over possible loss of power

Dozens of tenants may be without electric and gas in the common areas of their building on Franklin Avenue after the landlord hasn?t paid his bill, according to Con Ed.

Residents are fuming after they received a notice from Con Edison warning them the landlord owes more than $70,000 in unpaid bills despite their paying rent on time.

The building?s owner attributes the overdue bill to the renters. He says there are about 44 residential units in the building and about 30 of them owe rent.

Con Edison says if the problem is not resolved, gas and electric will go out as soon as May 1.
