Espada speaks out after being slapped with suit

Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr. says he is the target of a witch hunt after being slapped with a lawsuit by Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo.

The lawsuit alleges Espada stole $14 million over five years out of the Bronx-based not-for-profit where Espada serves as president and CEO. Nineteen current and former officers of the Comprehensive Community Development Corporation in Soundview have also been named in the lawsuit.

Espada says he believes the lawsuit is payback for his role in a senate coup last summer.
