Espada defends himself against allegations

Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr. today said allegations that he siphoned off millions of dollars from a government-funded non-profit clinic for himself and his family are unfounded and a sham.

Espada's entire press conference.Calling the creation of the Soundview HealthCare Network his "life's work," Espada said the lawsuit filed against him by Attorney General Andrew Cuomo was full of "total falsehoods." Some of Espada's supporters, many of whom flanked him during his news conference, announced they're launching an investigation to see whether or not the lawsuit filed by Cuomo was politically motivated.
