Sen. Espada responds to allegationsPosted: Updated:
In an interview today with News 12, state Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada Jr. said allegations that he siphoned off millions of dollars from a government-funded non-profit clinic for himself and his family are unfounded and a sham.
Click "Next" to view extended footage of Sen. Espada's interview with News 12.Calling the creation of the Soundview HealthCare Network his "life's work," Espada said the lawsuit filed against him by Attorney General Andrew Cuomo was full of "total falsehoods."
Many Bronx residents say they are concerned the lawsuit is affecting his ability to govern. Normally Sen. Espada says he would be in Albany working on the budget, but instead he has been in the Bronx trying to clear his name.
Sen. Espada says he's still doing the state's work and plans to be back in Albany next week.
