16 food giants have agreed to cut out the salt

Mayor Michael Bloomberg plans to announce that 16 food makers and restaurant chains have agreed to recude or eliminate the amount of salt in their products.

Corporations such as Heinz, Kraft and Starbucks will join to effort to reduce salt intake, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Studies show too much salt in the diet can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.
