Cuomo subpoenas NY Senate in Espada case

(AP) - Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has subpoenaedstate Senate records involving Sen. Pedro Espada Jr., whose Bronxhealth clinic was raided Wednesday by federal agents.

Cuomo wants personnel and travel records for several Senateemployees hired by Espada, the Senate's majority leader.

Senate Democratic majority spokesman Austin Shafran saysThursday the Senate will provide the documents.

Cuomo sued Espada on Tuesday, accusing him of packing hisbusiness with relatives who also had state jobs. Cuomo says Espadasiphoned off millions of dollars from the government-fundednonprofit clinic for himself and his family.

Espada says the accusations are baseless and motivated byCuomo's desire to run for governor.
