Bronx kids no longer sweet on soda
A group of Bronx kids took an oath today to ditch soda and other sugary drinks.
The children, who were attending an anti-obesity seminar at the Soundview Health Care Network, learned there are 10 tablespoons of sugar in one can of soda. Nutritionists say Bronx teens drink 600 cans of soda a year.
"The solution is educating them to understand the problems associated with these drinks that are high in sugar," says Renata Shiloah, the center's director of nutrition.
