Million Mom March held in Mott Haven

Mothers and families who have lost loved ones to gun violence gathered in Mott Haven today to march in support of tighter gun control.

The 10-block march is part of a national event called the Million Mom March. Gloria Cruz started the Bronx chapter of the organization about five years ago after losing her 10-year-old niece to gun violence.

Though the rain kept the majority of marchers away from the event, police say at least 100 people turned out. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. says about 1,186 guns have been taken off the streets since Jan. 1.
