Disabled riders call for elevator at station
Disabled subway riders in Parkchester say an MTA project to spruce up the local subway station doesn't meet their needs.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has put $34 million toward renovating the 177th Street station, but says an elevator is not being put in. Advocates for disabled riders have started a petition calling for the elevator to be installed.
State Assemblyman Peter Rivera says the MTA has low-cost options if it decides to install the elevator.
