Low-income housing goes 'green'
The Bronx could be leading the way in low-cost, energy-efficient housing.
A new apartment building in Melrose is energy-efficient and provides low-income housing. The apartment has solar panels, green roofs, energy-efficient windows, and bamboo flooring.
All the apartments within the 84-unit building are designated low-income. 10 percent of the apartments are for homeless housing.
