Return of the floating pool excites Bronx residents

The floating pool will return for the 2010 summer season in the Bronx.

The 82-foot-long pool is located off Barretto Point Park and will open for the third time on June 29 at 11 a.m. Bronx residents say they are grateful to have a clean place to swim and cool off this summer.

Crews were busy today installing the six anchors which will keep the pool securely in place. It was stored on Long Island throughout the winter and was hauled 17 miles by tug boat yesterday.

The non-profit Neptune Foundation transformed an old barge into the seven-lane swimming pool a few years ago.
