MTA holds public hearing on layoffs tonight

? The Metropolitan Transportation Authority held a hearing about proposed subway booth layoffs tonight.

The hearing was held at Hostos Community College on the Grand Concourse. Residents had until 9 p.m. to sign up to speak.

Previously, the agency attempted to fire approximately 250 subway booth agents. A judge ordered an injunction against the layoffs, saying the MTA did not hold enough hearings on the issue.

The MTA says despite the proposed layoffs, one station agent will be present at every kiosk in the borough.

The MTA's next move will be to hold a vote on July 28.
