Comptroller to NY: Come claim your cash!

The state comptroller?s office says there?s about $9.5 billion in unclaimed funds just waiting to be collected.

The money has amassed from forgotten bank accounts, stocks and inheritance money, according to state officials. The office says one woman from eastern New York recently recovered $19,000 that she didn?t know her deceased sister had left her.

The comptroller?s office is urging citizens to check its website and see if they?re owed any money in unclaimed funds. They plan to hold events over the next few months to raise awareness and help reunite families with their funds.
