Call to increase safety around Bronx River waterfall

The family of a 17-year-old boy who drowned yesterday in the Bronx River says something must be done to keep children away from a dangerous waterfall.

David Luccioni, 17, and Chrystal Reyes, 15, were pulled out of the water at River Park near the Bronx Zoo after being swept away by a strong current.

David Luccioni's father says the city must put up extra fencing so children can't access the waterfall. A spokesman for the city's Parks Department says there are no immediate plans to put up extra fencing, but urges Bronx residents to obey signs already in place.
