Disabled residents file lawsuit against MTA

(08/17/10) BROOKLYN - Disabled residents have filed a lawsuit against the MTA.

They say cuts to MTA bus service are a violation of their rights. They are hoping the suit will restore the services.

Those who filed the lawsuit say that buses are the only form of transportation they can count on. Many trains, they say, are inaccessible because of the gap between the doors and the platform. They also say Access-A-Ride, the city's disabled transportation program, is not always available.

The MTA slashed 38 bus lines and reduced service on 76 others last month.
