City inspects construction site after worker falls

(08/19/10) MOUNT HOPE - The city inspected a Mount Hope construction site today after a worker fell at the location.

Officials say they are trying to determine exactly how the accident happened yesterday. It is possible that the worker was not properly wearing his harness, but it is also possible that the scaffolding was improperly constructed or secured.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says it recommends using aerial lifts, safety nets, elevated platforms and guardrail systems to safeguard construction workers.

Officials say the worker who fell yesterday is now on a respirator.
